Gamers recently got a plethora of downloadable content for "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and 3DS. During the pre-E3 "Smash Bros." presentation Masahiro Sakurai revealed three new characters including "Street Fighter's" Ryu, "Fire Emblem's" Roy and "Mother 3's" Lucas. While it was an incredible reveal Sakurai has recently said that gamers should expect more reports NintendoLife.

In the most recent Famitsu article, translated by Source Gaming, Sakurai talks about how the last downloadable content came together, reiterating much of what's been said in previous interviews and within the direct broadcast presentation itself. Notably, Sakurai confirmed that Ryu, Roy and Lucas were not taken fromt he Fan Ballot, as development for the three characters had begun before voting was even open. Sakurai confirms that "from now until the end" the focus is on "fan services," with several more DLC characters on the way. Check out a snippet of the translated article below:

"There is a fighter ballot on the official Smash for Wii U/3DS website. We've received an extremely large number of votes, but of course, Lucas, Roy, and Ryu were in developed even before the ballot was created. I had a grasp on their popularity and demand, though.

From now until the end, it is going to be fan service, but I can't keep the development team together forever, so there's only going to be several more characters. I also ask for your patience, as we need time to develop more content."

So the good news here is that there is still hope for the specific character you voted for, but the sad news is that it seems the end of development for the title may be approaching sooner than later.
