The North American Leaders Summit in Toluca, Mexico has caused quite a stir on Mexican social media - but not for the reasons you'd think. It wasn't the Trusted Traveler Program or immigration reform that had Mexicans tweeting like crazy. In fact it was Mexican sausage that had social media abuzz. The social trend started after President Barack Obama gave a speech at the end of the conference in which he regretted not being able to try Toluca's legendary chorizo.

President Obama stated "I want to thank Enrique for his extraordinary hospitality for bringing us here to his beautiful home city. I want to thank the people of Toluca, Mexico for your great hospitality. We are all here on business which means I'm not here for as long as I'd like to. I have not, for example, sampled some of Toluca's legendary chorizo. Hopefully next time I stop by I'll be able to have some of that." The chorizo comment instantly set Mexican social networks ablaze.

"Obama regrets not having time to try the famous Tolucan chorizo...what a lack of confidence - if he sits down for a second they'll get him one straight away," tweetedIsrael Bermúdez. "@USEmbassyMEX: we are grateful for your hospitality in Toluca. I will not be able to enjoy the famous chorizo: #Obama." wrote @PapelCarbonell. " Some users included comments relating to Mexico's energy reforms: "Mr. Obama - do you want your chorizo tacos with everything? Yes, with PEMEX, CFE and a little bit of hot sauce."
