Mara Patricia Castañeda and Vicente Fernández Jr. are ending their marriage after seven years. The news broke today when Castañeda's lawyer issued an official statement confirming the separation. "As lawyer of Mrs. Mara Patricia Castañeda and with her permission, through this medium I make public the decision that was made in conjunction with Mr. Vicente Fernández Abarca in ending their matrimonial relationship that united them, which they made in peace and voluntarily with both of their best interests in mind," the statement read. "I thank you, in the name of my client, for your respect in this decision, informing you that Mrs. Mara Patricia Castañeda and Mr. Vicente Fernández Abarca have agreed not to give interviews or comment on the situation."

Coincidentally, Vicente Fernández's son yesterday wrote on Twitter: "The rain cleans and purifies. Greetings from Guadalajara, let the new phase begin." Could he have been talking about the pending news yesterday and ready to move on? The press release doesn't touch on the reasons why the couple is going their separate ways. Just last November 2014, the Televisa Entertainment host was talking about how solid her marriage was, a couple weeks shy of their seventh anniversary. "It's a solid marriage, it's a marriage with a lot of respect that is always in contact for security reasons and for love where we are and what time we will arrive," she said. "If I go to an event, if Vicente goes to an event, we are always in constant communication. I think that the base of a relationship of friends, work, couple, it's communication."

The couple wed back in December 2007 in Mexico City where the Fernández family gathered for the celebration. Telenovelas actor Eduardo Yáñez was the "padrino" of the wedding, while Mara's brother Juan Francisco Castañeda was the one to walk her down the aisle. At the event many celebrities were present like Gloria Trevi, Ana Gabriel and Verónica Castro. During the banquet, Banda El Recodo performed where all the guests enjoyed music and food from this grand event.
