The-Walking-Dead-Season-5
"The Walking Dead" season 5. AMC

AMC has announced the first ever Zombie Bowl, which is set to kick off at 10 a.m. ET on Super Bowl Sunday. As part of this event AMC is planning to run every “Human vs Walkers” moment from “The Walking Dead” season one and two. “The Walking Dead” Zombie Bowl will run all the way through the Super Bowl. Throughout the Fall 2013 football season it has been no surprise that “The Walking Dead” has been competing with Sunday night football, and sometimes even beating out the football demographics. Now It appears AMC is utilizing their demographic to give viewers who aren’t all that interested in football an alternative to the Super Bowl.

The press release by AMC for “The Walking Dead” Zombie Bowl reads: “AMC’s first ever “Zombie Bowl” kicks off at 10am Et on Super Bowl Sunday. Fans of The Walking Dead, TV’s #1 non-sports show, won’t be left out on one of television’s biggest nights of the year. Every Humans vs. Walkers moment from The Walking Dead‘s season one and two will run in a marathon all the way through the big game. Fans looking to be part of the action will have a full day and night of zombie hits and tackles so they can catch up on early episodes before the mid-season premiere on February 9th.

While we are certain this sundays “Walking Dead” Zombie Bowl marathon won’t come close to capturing the same ratings as the Super Bowl, we commend AMC for attempting something unique, by offering non-football fans something to indulge in on Super Bowl Sunday. This Sunday will also mark the last Sunday fans won’t have a new episode of “The Walking Dead.” The mid-season four premiere will kick off Sunday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
