Puerto Rican singer Wisin is currently experiencing a painful loss. The 37-year-old singer has reportedly confirmed that his one month old baby girl, Victoria, has passed away.

According to FOX News Latino, Juan Luis Morera Luna, a.k.a Wisin, explained earlier this month that he and his family were going through a “difficult time” while dealing with their daughter Victoria’s illness. The disease, Trisomy 13 also known a “Patau Syndrome,” is a rare chromosome disorder that results in “abnormalities such as development delays, intellectual inabilities and specific facial characteristics.”

“Like any other parent, we ask that you all continue to pray for us so that we can overcome this process and that our daughter will be able to recover soon. God will fulfill his purpose in our Victoria,” he said then.

Wisin confirmed via Instagram that Victoria has passed away early this morning. The singer posted a photo of his wife and daughter in the NICU along with a brave and heartfelt caption.

“I thank God for her one month of life, one month with Victoria,” he wrote. “Princess Victoria I will see you again in heaven. I’m in so much pain, God please help me. I want to thank the millions of people who were praying for our family and for our Victoria.”

The couple was aware of Victoria’s disorder prior to giving birth, but decided to move forward with the pregnancy.

According to the site, most babies diagnosed with this disorder die in the first year of life. There have been a few reports of babies with Trisomy 13 surviving well into their teen years.

Nothing compares to losing a child at such a young age. We would like to give our deepest and sincerest condolences to Wisin and his family.
