The director of 2000 Mules, Dinesh D'Souza, joined a growing number of high-profile conservative figures this week urging MAGA loyalists to drop their outrage over the Epstein files and stay focused on supporting Donald Trump's political agenda.
For days, MAGA influencers flooded social media with accusations that the administration was covering up elite ties to Epstein's sex trafficking network. Trump's firm response, telling supporters to stop pushing the conspiracy, sparked internal tension across right-wing media circles and even hints of a rift between the president and some of his most loyal followers.
Now, a coordinated message appears to be taking shape. On Monday, D'Souza told listeners of his podcast that although unanswered questions remain about Epstein, it was "time to move on" and be a supporter of Trump's "political team," according to Mediate.
"Is it time to move on from the Jeffrey Epstein case? I want to argue the answer is yes," D'Souza said. "I'm going to talk about the Epstein files and I'm going to make the case that even though there are unanswered questions about Epstein, it is in fact time to move on."
He framed the case as closed unless Epstein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently in prison, comes forward. D'Souza argued that Republicans should shift their energy to topics like President Biden's controversial pardons, suggesting MAGA must show "maturity" and "balance" in the lead-up to 2026 midterms and Trump's policy push.
"My case for moving on does not have to do with anything like that," he added. "I think that right now it seems pretty clear we're not gonna get more information out of the government. They have closed the case. Unless Ghislaine Maxwell, who's in prison, speaks out and she's free to speak out."
While some online corners of MAGA continue to circulate theories and demand transparency, the party line is shifting. Whether the base falls in line remains to be seen.
"Part of being on a political team is maintaining a certain amount of maturity, recognizing you can't win 'em all, recognizing there are some things that are important to you that are less important to the guy you've put in charge who is trying to focus on things right in front of him, and so having a sense of perspective, having a sense of balance, having a sense of maturity, I think, is more important even than getting to the bottom of what really happened with Jeffrey Epstein," D'Souza said.
