The 2013 Aston Martin DB9 overhaul starts from the powerplant -- the DB9 receives the latest generation of the AM11 5.9 liter V12 engine and features several updates trickled from the new Vanquish. Thanks to a revised block, new head, dual variable valve timing, an uprated fuel pump, and a revised intake manifold, power is raised from 470-hp and 442 lb.-ft. of torque to 510-hp and 457 lb.-ft. of torque. Now, the DB9 can clear 0-to-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the last model.

Other hardware upgrades include Aston Martin's latest Gen4 Adaptive dampers are now offered in the DB9 as standard equipment, offering Normal, Sport, and Track settings. What's more, the Carbon Ceramic Matrix rotors and Brembo calipers setup saves 12.5 kg over the cast iron brakes.

Although the latest DB9 did not get the new carbon fiber bonded VH structure found in the Vanquish, Aston Martin has been keen to properly manage the DB9's weight distribution. Weighing in at 3,935, the 2013 DB9 boasts perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

Equal parts sport and luxury, the DB9 sports new levels of interior trim, including special hand-stitched leather welts for the seats as well as a set of upgraded finished glass switchgear. Customers can also choose new lightweight seats that transform the DB9 from a 2 2 into a two-seater, effectively saving 17 kg. Other amenities include a black Alcantara steering wheel, personalized sill plaques, DB9 or Aston Martin logos embroidered to the headrests, Bang & Olufsen BeoSound stereo, and more.

On the outside, the DB9 sports new bi-xenon headlights, a variety of 20-inch wheels, optional carbon-fiber finished splitters, diffuser, and side mirror housings, as well as a reverse camera.

The new 2013 Aston Martin DB9 coupe will start at $185,400, a good $24,595 less expensive than the discontinued Aston Martin Virage.
