Shakira, Blake Shelton Duet At 2014 ACM Awards
Shakira and Blake Shelton will perform their duet "Medicine" for the first time on national television at the 2014 ACM Awards, Sunday, April 6 at 8pm on CBS. NBC

Shakira is on fire and will be making an appearance April 6 at the 2014 ACM Awards. The Colombian super star will sing a duet with fellow "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton, who is also the host of the country music awards gala. Both coaches collaborated on "Medicine," a track off of Shakira's latest self-titled album. The "Empire" singer's team reached out to producers of the award show and invited them to a meeting where she played the song before it was released and they were so impressed they decided to invite her to the event, Ryan Seacrest reported. The duo already gave a sneak peek of their performance to the Sayers Club assistants in Hollywood. The unlikely duo smashed it and will no doubt do the same on Sunday night in Las Vegas. The Band Perry is set to open the ACM Awards with their new hit single "Chainsaw." The ceremony will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will also feature performances from Hunter Hayes, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line with Miranda Lambert and George Strait performing a medley in honor of Merie Haggard's tribute for 50 years in country music. Garth Brooks will have the honor of presenting the legend with the Crystal Milestone Award. Other performers scheduled are Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Brett Eldredge, Toby Keith, Justin Moore, Kip Moore, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Stevie Nicks. The fun stars Sunday, April 6 at 8pm ET/PT on CBS. A live stream of the red carpet is set up here for fans of fashion.

Shakira has made a strong debut on the Billboard 200 debuting at the No. 2 position, just below Disney's Frozen who scored an eight week at the top of the chart with 161,000 copies sold. The 37-year-old Colombian's self-titled album is her highest-charting ever with 84,000 sold. It moved past her previous record at No. 3 with "Laundry Service" in 2001. However, her latest musical effort was not able to surpass 2009's "She Wolf" which launched at No. 15 with 89,000 during the Christmas shopping season. Shakira has become a household name thanks to her stint as a coach on "The Voice" that airs on NBC. The television network also booked the "Can't Remember To Forget You" singer on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and "Today" to raise awareness of her latest musical recording.
