Aleks Syntek is joining the TeletonUSA this year, along with El Dasa, fusing their distinct rhythms in a duet that became the official anthem of this event. “Corazones Con Gente” was a song written by Aleks Syntek for a previous Teletón in México many years ago. This year, the organization approached the Mexican star to revive this tune and make it this year’s anthem. The results are amazing. Both Syntek and El Dasa are scheduled to kick-off the event singing the song along with Univision personalities hosting the broadcast live from Miami. This is the first time that both artists record a single together.

Syntek spoke with Latin Times over the phone and revealed he was “very excited” about the opportunity. “Ever since they told me that they wanted to re-record my Teletón song for the TeletonUSA, I got very excited. Honestly I think this is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve written and regardless of the cause, this is one of my favorites and I love performing it. So it was amazing to have done it again for the TeletonUSA 2014.” He also opened up about working with El Dasa and how they fused their very different genres.

“To be honest with you, the one who deserves a lot of credit is El Dasa,” Syntek told Latin Times. “He adapted to the song. The song is pretty much the same way as I recorded it for the first time some 15 years ago when I did it for the Teletón México. We just modified some of the lyrics to fit the new campaign, Corazón Con Gente, but the song is mostly pop and not Mexican regional at all, however, I loved how El Dasa fit into the song.”

“I sent him the track,” added Syntek. “And although I couldn’t be there to direct him, which I would’ve loved and I was sorry I couldn’t support him in that way, he is so talented and delivered an amazing outcome. We finally got together to shoot the video after the song was already done, and it was amazing to see how we both have mutual admiration and respect for each other and we did have good chemistry on set.”

Aleks hopes that with his participation in the event, he can encourage his fans to become a part of this, to help change the world little by little. “El Dasa and I are getting a luxury spot, and that makes me happy,” he said. “TeletonUSA is in diapers. This initiative started here not too long ago, and it needs a lot of support. Here in the States it’s not something where the government gets involved as much, which is the case in Mexico or other countries. Here it’s more independent, and there’s a lot of need, especially within the Latin communities.”

The third annual TeletonUSA will be broadcast by the Univision and Galavisión Networks from December 12 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and airing 30 hours non-stop until December 14 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT. The goal of the 3rd Annual TeletonUSA is to support CRIT USA in helping more than 600 children with disabilities from 38 states.
