If one goes by a new finding by scientists, life on Earth might have come from a planet that is trillions of miles away.

It means that humans might be aliens, according to The Sun.

Nine.com.au reported that the existence of the first forms of life on Earth is a mystery, and a clue has come from a group of scientists in Japan. Their new finding suggests that the elementary components of life on Earth actually arrived from meteorites.

Dr. Yasuhiro Oba of Hokkaido University in Japan led a team of researchers that studied the Murchison, Lake Murray and Tagish Lake meteorites, which are rich in carbon, according to Courthouse News Service. In 1933, the Lake Murray meteorite fell and was found on a farm in Carter County in Oklahoma. In 1969, the Murchison meteorite fell near the Victorian riverside town of Murchison in Australia. The Tagish Lake meteor fell on a frozen lake in north-western British Columbia in Canada on Jan. 18, 2000.

For the first time, the chemical “building blocks” of humans' deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) have been detected in asteroids that hit Earth billions of years ago. The finding that is in a new study published in Nature Communications means that the seed of life was probably planted on Earth from elsewhere in the universe. This means that humans could be thriving on other far away planets.

Oba said that he and his team found a diverse range of "organic materials, including nucleobases," which are humans' "basic building blocks of life." He explained that these materials could have been delivered to our planet on "asteroids, meteorites, comets and interplanetary dust particles four billion years ago." This probably happened when Earth was being "bombarded by debris from outer space."

The researchers believe that "the influx of these organics played an important role in the evolution of life on Earth," and he added that this is a "very exciting discovery which expands our understanding of how life started." To form DNA and ribonucleic acid (RNA), which are the basis of life on Earth, two types of chemical building blocks, or nucleobases, are needed. They are called purines and pyrimidines, and earlier only purines were identified in meteorites. But pyrimidines were detected by Oba’s team in lab experiments simulating conditions in the interstellar media.

UFO Festival
People take pictures with alien statues at AlienFest during the UFO Festival on July 2, 2021 in Roswell, New Mexico. - The festival returns during the July 4th holiday weekend following the Covid-19 pandemic. A highly awaited US intelligence report on dozens of mysterious unidentified flying object sightings said most could not be explained, but did not rule out that some could be alien spacecraft. The report made no mention of the possibility of -or rule out - that some of the objects sighted could represent extra-terrestrial life. The military and intelligence community have conducted research on them as a potential threat. Photo by Patrick T. Fallon/AFP via Getty Images
