It’s been two weeks at the ranch but for some former athletes it’s been an eternity. Most are already reaching their breaking points. On this second episode of season 16, “The Knockout,” it’s all about going deeper. This week's challenge is about having no excuses whatsoever. Trainers and contestants attempt to go way back searching for the emotional and physical reasons that got each person to “The Biggest Loser.” Trainers Jessie, Jen and Dolvett are making it clear that they’re not only trying to reshape the contestants bodies but also their ways of dealing with emotional issues and further on, their eating habits.
Highlights: Jessie needs to push the Blue Team harder and starts focusing on healthy eating by making a Waldorf salad and later sharing the meal in an emotional team dinner where he opens up about how hard it is to be away from his wife and young son who are in Toronto. Former athlete and model, Matt confesses to his trainer Jen that one of the real reasons he’s there is he will lose his longtime girlfriend if he doesn’t make drastic lifestyle changes. Blake has an anxiety attack as she struggles to breathe at the gym and when Dolvett tries to talk to her, she refuses to talk and gets kicked out of the gym by her trainer, "If you're not willing to let me in, I can't train you. "Further on, Blake does open up and shares an emotional moment with Dolvett when they both talk about their tormented childhoods.
Challenges: Following the theme of going beyond weight loss, all contestants discussed their health reports with Dr. H this week and where they get to see computer-generated images of themselves in a near future if the continue losing weight. Rob has a breakdown at his consultation and starts yelling that he knows he’ll be dead in five years if he doesn’t shape up. All three teams fight for the right to use the gym for ‘Last Chance Workout’ that week and in the end, the White Team votes for the Red Team out of the gym that week.
In the end, the Red Team is affected by the no-gym week they had and vote for the elimination of Emmy, who lost the least weight on her team (-5) but little does she know that her journey won’t end there, instead she’s headed to Comeback Canyon to train with Bob Harper and compete against this week's winner, former high school cheerleader, Andrea who beat Vannessa. Number of times I cried: 4.
