2nd Generation BMW E30 3-Series BMW Group

In 1982, BMW introduced its E30 3-Series and the compact luxury saloon took the world by storm. Introducing an unprecedented array of variants, the E30 was available in two-door, four-door, station wagon, and convertible body styles. Engine choices included 4-cylinder blocks ranging from 1600cc, 1766cc, and 1.8 liter, to 6-cylinder powerplants ranging from 2.0 liter to a rare 3.3 liter, and even diesel. The 3-series was also available with all-wheel-drive.

Undoubtably the best 3-series of all, the original BMW M3 transformed the German automaker image, solidified a reputation as the "Ultimate Driving Machine," and successfully made the M badge synonymous to driving pleasure and performance. Initially developed for DTM racing, the E30 M3 still ranks as one of the best and most desirable sports cars ever made.

This year, the BMW 3 Series Club will gather to celebrate the E30 3-Series' 30th anniversary. Held at the BMW Group of Munich, the festivities will go on from June 14th through 19th, 2012. Highlighting the event is a special program on Saturday, June 16.

On June 16th, the public are invited to join the excitement as more than 50 classic E21 and E30 BMW 3-Series cars will come together outside the BMW Museum. Visitors can take advantage of the opportunity and admire the cars as well as speak with Club members, whether to ask questions, exchange ideas, or just to banter on.

Best of all, participants can take a tour around the BMW Museum and pay a rare visit to the collection at BMW Group Classic. The classic collection is normally closed to the public.

Exciting for BMW Group, its 3-series owners, and for the car enthusiasts, the 30th anniversary events are a wonderful tribute to the iconic E30 3-Series and encourages BMW 3-Series loyalty for years to come.
