Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly taunted by opposing fans who chanted Lionel Messi's name when he was on his way to the dressing room.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the 37-year-old footballer, failed to score his first goal for the Saudi side Al Nassr again, as his new team lost 3-1 to Al-Ittihad in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup on Thursday, Jan. 26. After the final whistle in the match, Ronaldo was teased by Al-Ittihad fans, who chanted Lionel Messi's name when he was on his way to the dressing room, MARCA reported.

During an exhibition clash between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal XI and Paris Saint-Germain, Ronaldo scored twice. However, in his two appearances for Al-Nassr, he’s struggled to make an impact. Ronaldo has managed just one shot on target across both appearances for Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo failed to register a shot on target during their 1-0 win over Ettifaq last weekend. In his second appearance also, he failed to get a shot on target even though Al-Nassr had 64 percent possession against Al-Ittihad. The club Al-Ittihad is managed by former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

When Ronaldo was teased by Al-Ittihad fans, who chanted Lionel Messi's name, Ronaldo bowed his head and left the pitch disappointed. However, he did not react to the opposition supporters' chants, Daily Mail reported.

Ronaldo and Messi met against each other in a match for what may have been the last time at the iconic King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh last week.

Ronaldo, the Portugal striker, left Manchester United and completed his outrageous £175m-a-year move to Al-Nassr at the end of Dec. 2022 after hitting out at Man United coach Erik Ten Hag and the club's owners in a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Al-Nassr hopes their club will be the Portuguese superstar's final club before he hangs up his boots and retires from professional football. The contract Ronaldo signed with Al-Nassr runs until 2025, by which time he will already have celebrated his 40th birthday. According to sources, Al Nassr has also not ruled out extending Ronaldo's contract if he wants to continue his playing career.

Al-Nassr will next face Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League, which Ronaldo’s side is currently top of, on Feb. 3.
