Have you ever stopped and think about the music you listen to? What does the type of tunes you jam to say about you? If you listen to reggaeton you can probably conclude you are less smart than people that listen to classical or rock music. According to a study conducted by psychology students at the University of Bamako in Mali listening to music by the likes of Daddy Yankee and Wisin y Yandel is saying something about you that you don't want to be out there.

The study sampled five-thousand people that were given an IQ test and a round of questions to qualify them in the reggaeton-loving group. Rock and Classical music-goers tested out to be more receptive with their environments and a superior capacity of common sense. The research was carried out in 2012 and the conclusion was that the Spanish hip-hop music fans were 20 percent less intellectual than their counterparts, who resulted to be more simple.

This investigation does not take into account factors regarding the economy, culture and environment. The outcome does set up one to think if music has any correlation to someone having air in their head versus someone that does. Next time you are listening to Yankee's "Gasolina" and are in the middle of the dance floor chanting "dame más gasolina," pause and think, "Am I less smart for doing this?" Sound-off with your thoughts below and tell us if you think this study has any veracity?
