Although most are anxious to see what lies ahead for “Creed III,” it appears someone who debuted on “Creed II” will be getting his spinoff.

For those who followed the original “Rocky” series, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) was one of the polarizing antagonists that Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) faced.

After killing Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in the 1985 film, Drago and Rocky clashed in the US vs. Russia setup. Balboa won but had to pay the price, eventually forced into retirement due to the beating he got from the Russian pug.

Fast forward to the present, Drago returned but this time with his son taking the ring. Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) faced Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) and went a route fairly similar to what Balboa went through in “Rocky III.”

There were a lot of twists that most can pick up after “Creed II” and it appears that such is the case. Scriptwriter Robert Lawton will be tasked to come up with a “Drago” story, something that could narrate the story of Ivan and Viktor.

From “Creed II” alone, most noticed how Ivan was left by his wife, Ludmilla Drago (Brigitte Nielsen). While it was clear that one reason was the downfall of Ivan, the story of Viktor should be pretty interesting. That includes the separation – including how Viktor may have searched about his mother.

As of this writing, details remain limited on what the “Drago” spinoff movie will have to offer.

Lawton should be up to the task, someone who wrote the script of “Becoming Rocky.” The script earned him an Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting in 2021, something that led to MGM executives handing him the job of writing the “Drago” spinoff, The Wrap reported.
