ESPYs Award Show Live Stream
The sports award show is set to honor Caitlyn Jenner. See where you can watch live here! ESPYs

Set to honor the best in the sports world, the ESPYs 2015 will light the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles with the most recognizable athletes of the moment. The award show is set to be hosted by Joel McHale and one of the biggest draws this year is the accolade that Caitlyn Jenner will be receiving at the event. This will mark the first major appearance by 65-year-old Jenner since coming out as a transgender woman. Producers of the event initially received flack for honoring Caitlyn with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, but they are standing by their decision. “I think Caitlyn’s decision to publicly come out as a transgender woman and live as Caitlyn Jenner displayed enormous courage and self-acceptance," Maura Mandt told Sports Illustrated. "Bruce Jenner could have easily gone off into the sunset as this American hero and never have dealt with this publicly. Doing so took enormous courage. He was one of the greatest athletes of our time."

Mandt continued: "That is what the Arthur Ashe Courage Award is about, somebody from the athletic community who has done something that transcends sport. One of the biggest platforms the Arthur Ashe Foundation has is educational, and I think in this choice we have the opportunity to educate people about this issue and hopefully change and possibly save some lives. I think that is why it was the right choice.” Shortly after Caitlyn was announced as the recipient of this award, she released a statement saying: "In the past few months, the overwhelming outpouring of support from all over the world for my journey has been incredible. However, being honored with this award, which is named after one of my heroes, is truly special. For the first time this July, I will be able to stand as my true self in front of my peers."

With McHale as the host of the event, there's nobody that is off-limits to the comic. On his weekly show "The Soup" he often pokes fun at the Kardashian-clan and Jenner, but can we expect any jokes directed at Caitlyn? "Everybody is open to have jokes about them if I'm there," McHale told the Associated Press. "The only thing you really can't make fun of is the 'in memoriam.' All I care about is if the jokes are funny. It could be an edgy joke or it could be a family affair." The ESPYs will air on Wednesday, July 15 starting at 8pm ET on ABC. A live stream online can be seen on the ABC website or by downloading their respective apps to watch as the event unfolds.
