The new year has barely begun and already you can see the list of resolutions everyone is swearing to- “I will start exercising this year!” “I will eat healthy food now” etc. But have you ever stopped to analyze the negative things in your life canceling out all your good habits? So, how about this year, instead of adding things to our to-do list, we omit a few things and clear the negative energy off our already brimming plates?

1. Ditch the inherent need to be liked by everyone

Seriously, if you are aiming for universal acceptance you may as well hang your coat and give up already. You have to make peace with the fact that there are going to be people who will like and there will be many who don’t. All you need to do is not change yourself in an attempt to please others- stay authentic and natural.

2. Put an end to those short term goals that fizzle out after a while

For example, is your 2020 resolution to lose weight majorly about all the weddings you have to look glam in the coming months? Well, this is what a short-term goal is, as it is bound to lose steam once it has served its purpose. Instead make your goals a part of your personality, live them just don’t carry them out like an unnecessary chore.

3. Quit being afraid of taking risks

Your true potential will be realized only when you allow your fear to take a backseat and take risks, ‘cause it’s only then that the greatest opportunities reveal themselves.

4. No point in blaming others for what happens in your life

You are responsible for your life- whether it is your weaknesses, failures, or success. And when you realize this crucial fact, you stop making excuses- the self-created hurdles that hinder your personal growth.

5. No ‘this is what it is” mindset

The best thing you can do to ensure your growth is to broaden the horizons of your mindset. Embrace change, understand it, acquire new knowledge, new skills, improve and leave behind the idea of everything being “constant” throughout your life.

6. Stop believing in the myth of instant success

It takes time and effort to improve every day, which gradually transforms into the result we desire.

7. Show your need for perfection the door it needs to step out of

Nothing is perfect and that is the universal truth. Your fear of failing if things aren’t just perfect will only limit your confidence that has the potential to achieve anything!

8. Multi-tasking isn’t going to make you successful sooner

In fact, dividing your attention amongst different goals will only deter you to fully commit to one task and get the results you expected.

9. You can’t control everything

You need to learn that you can’t change or control everything, so the best you can do is detach from such situations and just manage how you react to this scenario.

10. Let go of the habit to say “Yes” to everything

Not every activity, decision, and demand you face in your life can deserve a “Yes”. Sometimes goals can only be attained when you say “No” to some things.
