The Carmelo Anthony that the Portland just signed met with a lot of cheers as fans’ prayers that he signed with a new team this season was answered by the Trail Blazers. Now, nostalgia made its extension to the virtual game.

NBA 2K just announced that they have added the 6-foot-8 forward to the Blazers’ roster in NBA 2K20 via their Twitter account. The addition to the team was made 24 hours after the talked-about signing by Nate McMillan squad.

In the clip 2K team uploaded on the post, it was seen that the New York-natïve was seen to what appears to be a big-three combination with CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard. Melo is wearing jersey number 7, which is the same number that he’s been using in his stints with the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Houston Rockets.

The fans took their time to respond to his impending return to the virtual game world.

Interestingly, the number 7 was deeply associated with Rip City fans because of Brandon Roy, Portland’s star rookie who won Rookie of the Year honors in 2006-2007 season.

Anthony, the third pick of 2003 NBA Draft, last played with the Rockets on November 9 in a loss in Oklahoma City. He struggled badly on his 20-minute stint, scoring only two points while missing all but one of his 11 shot attempts. He was later traded to the Chicago Bulls but was later waived.

His non-inclusion in any of the NBA teams was talked about by NBA fans as they taught that Melo deserves to have a spot on any NBA team roster. He was even rumored to have worked out with the Lakers, and as well as Kevin Durant pushing the Nets organization to bring Melo in Brooklyn per The Athletic reports.

Now that the Blazers opened their doors to the former Syracuse star through a non-guaranteed contract, the fans cannot help but be happy for the 35-year old hotshot, and now, they can play with or against him or on NBA 2K.
