
Last week, New York Times reported that Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen had announced his resignation from the German automaker after serving a successful term of seven years.
Playing a key role to the company's success, de Nysschen's efforts to finally transform Audi into a credible competitor against BMW and Mercedes-Benz is recognized and highly respected throughout the industry. In fact, Audi posted record sales in America for the past 17 consecutive months.
According to an e-mail sent by de Nysschen to the Audi dealers of America, "I thrive on developing turnaround strategies and on building companies, but Audi of America is no longer a construction site. It needs leadership with a different skill set."
Closely following the news of Johan de Nysschen's resignation comes a new Monday announcement of de Nysschen's latest position. Earlier today, Nissan Motor Co. officially announced that 52-year-old de Nysschen will now serve as the senior vice president of Infiniti worldwide.
In his new role, Johan de Nysschen's unique skill set will aid Nissan Motor Company Executive Vice President Andy Palmer in product planning, business strategy, marketing communications for the Infiniti division. Palmer can't wait to have de Nysschen on board, "We have exciting and ambitious plans for improving the Infiniti brand including introducing new models in all markets where premium customer demand exists," said Andy Palmer. "Johan is a highly successful global luxury automotive executive and his leadership of Infiniti will be a key factor in realizing the potential of the Infiniti brand."
De Nysschen's official start date will be July 1, 2012, and his new office will be stationed at Infiniti's global headquarters in Hong Kong, which only opened on the 22nd of last month.
