In a domestic violence incident, former National Football League (NFL) star Frank Gore allegedly pulled a naked woman by her hair and dragged her across the hallway of an Atlantic City hotel last month.

The incident took place on July 31 on the 59th floor of the Havana Tower of Tropicana Atlantic City after which the former footballer was charged with simple assault, reported Fox News.

Atlantic City police said in a statement that officers arrived to find the "victim, a 28-year-old woman from Miami, Florida, speaking with hotel security." The statement further read that the woman "did not exhibit signs of injury and complaints were not filed at the time." But an "ensuing investigation resulted in Franklin Gore being charged with simple assault related to the domestic violence incident."

Citing police documents, TMZ Sports reported that Gore allegedly "forcibly" grabbed the woman and "violently" dragged her. The former NFL star was not initially arrested, but police said that further investigation into the incident was done and then the charges came days later. The 39-year-old, who has not commented on the allegations, is expected to have a hearing in mid-October.

He played his final season in the NFL in 2020 for the New York Jets, and he signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in April 2022 before officially retiring. At the time, he said that he was hoping to eventually land a role in the 49ers front office, reported New York Post. He said that he loved looking at talent, and he loved "evaluating talent and I love ball." He left football then took up celebrity boxing. He defeated Yaya Olorunsola in a fight in May.

Through the years, the NFL has dealt with a series of domestic violence incidents. One of the most infamous was Ray Rice punching his fiancée, Janay Palmer in an incident that happened in Atlantic City. His attack was caught on elevator cameras at the Revel Hotel and Casino, and after that he never played in the NFL again.

In 2018, Kareem Hunt, who was the Kansas City Chiefs' running back at the time, was caught on video kicking and pushing a woman in a Cleveland hotel. He was suspended eight games by the NFL and he now plays for the Browns.
