Queen Elizabeth may still be alive and kicking at 93, but she has already planned everything that will happen after her death. When the Queen dies, Prince Charles will automatically move up as the new king and the line of succession will change. The Queen’s death will particularly mark a new chapter in the royal lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who, just a few months ago, packed up their things to move to a different residence and stay away from the public eye.

Although reports claim that both Prince Harry and Meghan do not want their family in the royal fishbowl, it looks like they won’t have a choice when Queen Elizabeth dies. This is because as the Queen dies and Prince Charles succeeds as the head of the Commonwealth, the new king will give Prince Harry more royal responsibilities. The Duke of Sussex is likely to take on additional duties when his father becomes king, playing a more prominent role for the Commonwealth.

According to a source, deploying Prince Harry during Prince Charles’ reign will be crucial to the monarchy because he is key in re-energizing the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth will need more attention when Queen Elizabeth dies as more nations will choose to sever ties, and Prince Harry will be the one to take up the baton.

Since Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are still too young to perform royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan will take on more royal duties when the Queen dies. Prince Charles reportedly plans to split most of the royal duties between his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan, and to put the other members of the royal family on the sidelines.

“Harry was also William’s spare for over 30 years and will continue to support his brother, father, and grandmother until George, Charlotte and the new baby can take on royal duties,” a source noted. “This ensures that ‘peripheral’ royals will not be supported by public funds and will need to make their own money,” the source added.

It remains to be seen where Prince Harry and Meghan will reside after the death of Queen Elizabeth. Neither them nor Prince William and Kate are expected to move into Buckingham Palace as Prince Charles plans to turn the property into a museum during his reign.
