Kate Middleton and Prince William are involved in many divorce rumors, and recently it was reported that the Duke of Cambridge has been cheating on the duchess. At the height of their conflict, she was said to have left their home, and with their kids in tow, she went back to her family’s home in Bucklebury.

It appears that the cheating scandal is the couple’s most intense marital problem so far, and divorce has been brought up. Although Prince William’s cheating allegations with Rose Hansbury has been denied, the possibility of a divorce is always there for the royal couple.

In case they really called it quits, will Kate be able to keep her current royal title “Duchess of Cambridge?” Royal styles are complicated and often confusing, but the British monarch is following a rule on names to be used by the members of the royal family. Mostly, Queen Elizabeth decides if one can retain their titles when a couple separates.

When Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced in 1996, she was stripped of her title Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales but was allowed by the Queen to continue using “Princess” before her name because she was still regarded as part of the royal family. This was the same case with Sarah Ferguson when she divorced Prince Andrew. The “Her Royal Highness” style was removed, and she is now simply called Sarah, Duchess of York.

For Kate, she will also lose her title Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge but will be able to retain the name Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. But this will not happen any time soon because Prince William and his wife are unfazed by their own divorce rumors. They are still together and are obviously in love with each other.

Photos show that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are doing well as a couple despite the separation reports. The alleged affair with Hanbury is also fading away since this was already denied, and the third party even threatened to sue people who were spreading the false rumors.

There is no sign that Kate and Prince William are breaking up. Thus, she will continue to be called Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. Besides, Queen Elizabeth might not allow them to divorce as it was reported that she does not want any more troubles and scandals within the royal family.
