It seems that every week there is a plethora of new iPhone 6 rumors spinning around. Despite the iPhone 5s and 5c having only been release back in September Apple watchers are still eager to know when the next generation iPhone will be out. The iPhone 6 is rumored to have a mid-2014 release date. Of course Apple is keeping mum about any of their future tech. Features of the iPhone 6 are rumored to include a better camera, longer battery life and (recently speculated) a wraparound display.
The latest rumor regarding the iPhone 6 says it will have 3d vision. This week Apple confirmed it had acquired PrimeSense. This Israeli company specializes in designing sensors that allow consumers to interact with certain products. PrimeSense is the same company that built the motion sensors for the Xbox Kinect. Apple reportedly bought PrimeSense for $350 million. Rumors ran rampant about the acquisition for months. Apple watchers were quick to assume that the Cupertino company would be incorporating the motion sensor technology into the new iPhone.
When the iPhone 5s was released Apple was hit with some mocking about the fact that there was little difference between the iPhones 5 and 5s. The iPhone 6 is likely going to receive a total redesign in order to keep Apple customers coming back. When the iPhone was first released Apple had virtually no competition in the smartphone market. Now the market has flooded with phones from other companies like Samsung, Droid by Motorola and the Nokia Lumia. If the rumors are to be believed the iPhone 6 should have some impressive new features.
Not all iPhone rumors are about the possible specs the phone may have. Other rumors floating around suggest the next generation iPhone will cost $100 more than the iPhone 5s. Tech writers speculate that the high cost of iPhone 5s components and the company's desire for high profit margins, not to mention the new larger display and faster chip will increase the retail price. Susquehanna analyst Chris Caso wrote "We think Apple could get away with a $50 to $100 premium for a larger screen size iPhone 6."
