More information on Jaguar's latest two-seater sports car come to light as the Paris Motor Show draws near. Today, Jaguar has officially confirmed that its brand new F-Type will feature three distinct variants known as F-Type, F-Type S, and F-Type V8 S.
Differentiated by its powerplant, the base F-Type will feature a new 3.0 liter V6 producing 340-hp. 0-to-60 mph takes only 5.3 seconds and top speed is limited to 260 km/h, or 162 mph. Next, the F-Type S will share the same engine, this time slightly tuned for a more spirited 380-hp. Jaguar claims 0-to-60 mph will take just 4.9 seconds while top speed is raised slightly to a governed 275 km/h (171 mph). Finally, the range-topping F-Type V8 S will offer the big daddy 5.0 liter V8 engine, good for 495-hp and 625Nm of torque. 0-to-60 mph is expected in the low 4-second realm while top speed is expected to reach the deep end of 180 mph.

All engines will come available with Jaguar's Quickshift eight-speed transmission, which forgoes the signature Jaguar dial gear selector for a more conventional lever. What's more, steering mounted paddle shifters are also available. In the F-Type S variant, Jaguar will also provide Dynamic Launch control for optimum acceleration. Also, Dynamic Mode during driving will program the transmission to not shift automatically at redline and to only downshift the vehicle to prevent stalling, allowing full gear selection control to the driver.
Other hardware goodies available in the Jaguar F-Type S include a mechanical limited-slip differential for better handling dynamics, especially handy for drifting. In the V8 S, an electric LSD is available. To provide the Jaguar F-Type's bite with some matching bark, Jaguar also has an Active Exhaust System, allowing an unmuffled snarling engine note when the engine spins beyond 3,000 rpm. Tying the whole package together, Jaguar will also offer optional extras including a Configurable Dynamics program that logs things like lap times and g-meters for the driver's amusement.
Beyond the digital bits inside, sport-oriented features continue along Jaguar F-Type's exterior as well. New for Jaguar vehicles, an active rear spoiler deploys at speed to reduce lift by as much as 120 kg, allowing for a more planted driving experience under any driving condition. The F-Type will also feature bi-xenon headlamps with integral LED daytime running lights as well as a full LED taillight as well.
Exhaust pipes will be different depending on the variant. The V6 model will feature twin center tailpipes as an ode to Jaguar's sports car heritage. The V8 model will receive signature quad exhausts similar to the XKR and XFR.
Finally, the Jaguar F-Type will receive wheel sets ranging from standard 18-inch to optional 19 and 20-inch alloys.
