Pop sensation Katy Perry has been called a lot of things, but recently "devil child" can be added to this list. While this kind of declaration would be expected from one of her detractors, it actually came from Perry's own father.
Her father, Keith Hudson, who is a preacher has been describing the famous "I Kissed A Girl" singer as this during church tours he and his wife Mary have been making recently. He even goes further, urging his congregations to "pray for Katy" and saying she was in need of "healing."
While speaking at a church in Santa Fe Springs, California, Keith made some disparaging comments about his daughter's career and popularity.
"They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl?"
"I was at a concert of Katy's where there were 20,000. I'm watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church."
"I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They're loving and worshipping the wrong thing."
He then went on to end his sermon by asking church goers to make donations to him and his wife to fund a move to Switzerland, "not one or two dollars, but 20s."
So far the pop star has not released any statements regarding her father's comments, but it is known that Katy has never denied her strict religious upbringing throughout her rise to fame. Before she was known for her 2008 lezploitative hit, Katy was a regular singer in church.
