Will there be a “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Season 2? That’s the question many fans have on their minds after watching the thrilling first season. There is no official announcement yet, but given the popularity of the show, with the English title “Demon Slayer,” it is just a matter of time before it is renewed.

For the fans who are new to the franchise, the animation series is based on the Japanese manga series written by Koyoharu Gatooge. The series has a huge fan following, and the story continues even after its 17 volumes. The TV series therefore has enough source material for at least a couple of more seasons.

As far as the popularity of the show is concerned, it is ranked as the top 17th among all the shows on My Anime List. With a score of 8.94, it is one of the highest shows out there. As a result, a movie entitled "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train" will be released which should be a direct sequel to the show's first season. The movie plot will revolve around Tanjiro and friends battling an Upper Moon Demon.

The plot of “Kimetsu no Yaiba” or “Demon Slayer” revolves around Tanjiro, who is the sole person to support his family. When demons attack his house, they infect his sister Nezuko, who is slowly turning into a demon. Tanjiro then goes on a journey to seek his revenge on the demons and also to try to find a cure for his sister.

The popularity of the show has led to the manga selling in record numbers in Japan. According to Comic Book, “Demon Slayer” is currently outselling “One Piece,” which is one of the most selling mangas in the country. “Kimetsu no Yaiba” has reportedly sold 200,000 ore units that its rival this year, and the sales are only increasing each week.

The increase in sales is being attributed to the fans wanting to find out what happens in the story after the first season of “Kimetsu no Yaiba.” Considering the show's success, a second season is almost a no-brainer. Moreover, there are plenty of source material to work with since the manga is around a hundred chapters away from where the first season concluded.
