In April 5, 1994, Kurt Cobain put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. He was 27 years old.

After reaching world fame with his band, grunge icon "Nirvana," sold over 10 million copies of his seminal album "Nevermind," and strugged with depression and substance abuse for years, Cobain could not stand the pressure and put an end to his life. His name, his tragic tale, his iconic music and his legacy stretch far beyond his years.

He left behind a suicide note that read "It's better to burn out than to fade away." In memory of the singer's short but intense life, here are ten of his best quotes to live by:

1. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not

2. Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are

3. I'm not afraid of dying. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is the best hope I've got.

4. The duty of youth is to challenge corruption

5. Rather be dead than cool

6. The worst crime is faking it

7. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask someone else first

8. Nobody dies a virgin ... Life fucks us all

9. The finest day I ever had was when tomorrow never came

10. I am a much happier guy than a lot of people think I am.
