Rather than worrying about the seemingly endless details that go into pulling off a perfect party, most people would rather turn over the task to seasoned event planners. For newly minted billionaire Kylie Jenner, as well as the entire Kardashian–Jenner family, the go-to pro for such task is Mindy Weiss.

Mindy Weiss is an internationally sought wedding and event planner based in New York City and Los Angeles, who helped Jenner pull off some of her Instagram-worthy events, such as the Kylie Skin launch party. For those who want to host picture-perfect events on their own, Weiss shared a few tips on how to organize an event with social media in mind.

Theme Should Reflect The Host’s Passion

A party’s theme is very important as it will set the mood for the event. For Mindy Weiss, it’s his clients’ passion, not hers, that counts.

“I get my theme inspiration from my clients,” Weiss explained why each party is unique. “I love to have them come in for lunch to start. Having a meal together usually means more details will come out about their lives … That way I can find out what they are really into and that helps us come up with a theme.”

Set Up Spaces For Instagrammable Moments

People love to document events through social media, especially on photo-sharing and video-sharing platform Instagram. Thus, it is important to organize an event in such a way that it will give guests plenty of Instagrammable moments.

“I try to compartmentalize my parties,” the planner explained. “People love finding the perfect place for an Instagram photo so I look for spaces for them to have that moment.”

One way to spice up a corner is to add colors and appropriate lighting. “We may add extra color, neon, or balloons to an area that we think is Instagrammable,” Weiss said. “If I think the area will be highly photographed, the lighting will be different than something more traditional like the pin spotting of a centerpiece.”

Highlight The Event’s Meaning

While giving guests the change to take picture-perfect shots, the planner warned that focusing too much on what to post on social media might take the meaning out of the event. “I think sometimes Instagram becomes too much of a focus, not so much in weddings but for parties,” the wedding planner noted.

“It does take away from the purpose of a wedding — what's more important, the vows and life memories or the Instagram moment? So I try to play it down in weddings,” Weiss added. “I make suggestions, hopefully the clients like them, we make a decision and then we move on.”

Indeed, creating an Instagram-ready event is important for those who want to use social media to broaden their reach. For instance, Jenner, who is one of the most followed social media personalities, was able to successfully cash in on her massive fanbase, which helped her market Kylie Cosmetics and made her the youngest member of the billionaires club.
