"Star Trek" fans will have two-and-a-half minutes of Spock hilarity to keep them abated until the May 17 release of Paramount's "Star Trek: Into Darkness." A new ad from German automaker Audi has Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock from the first television and movie series, pitted in an array of competitions against Zachary Quinto, who assumed the role of the Enterprise's pointy-eared first officer in J.J. Abrams 2009 reboot.

The commercial for Audi's new S7 is full of inside "Star Trek" gags. After a decisive loss to Nimoy in a game of chess, Quinto challenges his predecessor to see who can reach their country club first, with the loser buying lunch.

"Stand by to have your wallet emptied by a tractor beam," Nimoy retorts.

The senior Spock, however, displays some difficulty in loading a set of golf clubs into his Mercedes. Quinto then speedily makes his way to the club while the camera cuts to Nimoy doing an in-car rendition of his campy 1960s tune "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins," which can be seen here in original form.

When Nimoy finally meets the awaiting Quinto, he dismisses his younger colleague by re-enacting his final scene from "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan," pressing his hand against his window pane in a Vulcan salute and gasping the words, "I have been and always shall be your friend."

In a tactical move, Nimoy downs Quinto with a Vulcan neck pinch just before entering the club the dubious winner.

Continuing with the spirited fun, Nimoy jabbed Quinto with a tweet on Tuesday:

Whether Quinto will counter remains to be seen.
