Man Allegedly Murders Mum With Screwdriver In Fit Of Rage As She Refuses To Give Him Money

An unemployed Indian man allegedly murdered his mom after they got into a heated argument over money.

Maharashtra's Thane district police said on Tuesday that the accused has been identified as Vishal Elzend. The 24-year-old was out of work. Since he didn't earn, he used to often approach his 45-year-old mother, Urmila Elzend, for money for his daily expenses, reported India Today.

The murder doesn’t seem to be a planned one as it happened after the mother and son got into an argument. On Monday, his mother refused to give him money, said a police officer. This made Vishal very furious. In a fit of rage, he picked up a screwdriver and attacked his mom, the officer added.

The woman was severely injured following the attack. Her injuries were so serious that she died while going to the hospital, added the officer. The incident happened in the Reti Bandar area of Mumbra town in Maharashtra.

The woman's other son filed a complaint after which Vishal was arrested. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In another incident, a 27-year-old man allegedly killed his mother by setting her on fire in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, police said on Tuesday. According to Outlook, the incident allegedly happened after the woman asked her son to stop consuming alcohol and drugs.

On Monday, Suryakant Verma reportedly poured kerosene on his mother, Madhulata, in Nankatthi village, and set her on fire. A Nandani police station official said that the woman was sent to hospital, but died while undergoing treatment on Tuesday. But before dying, she named Suryakant as the culprit in her statement to the executive magistrate. He has been charged with murder, said the official.

In a similar incident, a teenager murdered his mother in Vasai (West), Mumbai, on Tuesday. The police said that the boy was angry with his mother’s behavior as she would frequently pick up fights with her children over "trivial issues." A police officer told Mid-day that the victim stayed in a house with her two children - daughter and the accused son. After her husband died last year, she would often pick up fights with her kids.

On Tuesday evening, the accused couldn't take it anymore. He confessed that he pushed his sister out of the flat, locked the door from inside, and strangulated his mother to death with a leather belt, the officer added.
