A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged beheading of a young woman that happened in the middle of a street in San Carlos, California on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The beheading happened just outside the residence of the female victim according to Lt. Eamon Allen. The reason behind the crime has yet to be officially released.

Allen added that the woman had two children but did not witness the gruesome act. The kids were inside the house at the time of the incident, KGO-TV reported.

It was added by the outlet that the two people were in an ongoing relationship. However, it was also revealed that the deceased victim had gotten a temporary restraining order against the suspect who was identified as Jose Solano Landaeta back in April.

"They arrived within minutes and found an obviously deceased female in the street in that area," Lt. Allen said during a press conference. "They began to work the scene and shortly then after, the male suspect arrived back at the scene and was quickly detained by sheriff's deputies. He was later placed under arrest for homicide. We can confirm that a stabbing instrument was used in the commission of the crime. That weapon is still outstanding."

Also, the actual weapon used by the suspect to behead the woman has yet to be found. The suspect allegedly had a medical emergency but was not detailed.

Sources added that there was a history of domestic violence where the woman was killed. The area remains an active crime scene. People who were returning home were also shocked to learn about the beheading of the young woman.

"Anytime someone loses their life it's certainly a tragedy," Lt. Allen said. "As far as the shocking nature of it, I do know that the deputies that first arrived on scene were a little beset by the scene. We are providing peer support, we are also providing support for the witnesses that were on scene as well, because there were several civilian witnesses."
