NEW YORK CITY - A man appeared to light himself on fire outside a New York City courthouse on Friday where a jury was being chosen for the criminal trial of former President Donald Trump.
The incident occurred as reporters gathered outside of the courthouse to cover Trump's trial. on-air , reporter Laura Coates said it appeared that a man had set himself on fire.
The reason for the incident was not immediately revealed.
Similarly, the state of the man is not yet known. But paramedics rushed him out of the scene on a stretcher, according to The Associated Press.
The court was being dismissed for a break right as the fire broke out. Judge Juan M. Merchan, seemingly unaware of what was unfolding outside, told newly selected jurors that opening statements are set for Monday at 9:30 a.m.
A full jury of 12 New Yorkers and 6 alternates have been selected for Trump's unprecedented hush money trial.
