Man Stabs Wife To Death For Complaining About Domestic Abuse To His Mother

A man has been accused of brutally stabbing his wife to death for reportedly complaining about him frequently beating her to her mother-in-law in Pune, Maharashtra, India on Tuesday, July 5.

The accused, identified as 22-year-old Hanumant Dhondiba Pawar, has been arrested by Hadapsar police after he allegedly knifed his 19-year-old wife, Nandini Hanumant Pawar, to death after she had confided to her mother-in-law of her husband's recurring domestic abuse while regularly coming home drunk, Punekar News reported.

Nandini and Hanumant reportedly got married two years ago and have a six-month-old daughter together. Nandini lived with her mother and her elder sister in the Hadapsar area of Pune to take care of her daughter.

Hanumant, an alcoholic, allegedly regularly comes home drunk and beats his wife Nandini. On Tuesday night, July 5, the day of the murder, Hanumant once again arrived in an intoxicated state and began arguing with the victim. During the confrontation, Hanumant took off his belt and began brutally beating Nandini with it.

After the heinous incident, Nandini who suffered injuries in the thrashing told her mother-in-law that her husband was abusive. Enraged over this, Hanumant walked up to Nandini and in a fit of rage stabbed her to death.

When Nandini's elder sister, Komal Vaijnath Landage, 22, tried to interfere in the atttack, the suspect injured Komal with the knife as well.

Following the stabbing, the police arrested the accused and launched an investigation into the incident, according to Assistant Police Inspector Somnath Padsalkar.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man has been accused of killing his wife after she allegedly objected to him kissing their infant son before the husband brushed his teeth in Palakkad, Kerala, India on Tuesday, June 28, Latin Times reported.

On Tuesday, when the accused, identified only as Avinash, tried to kiss his two-and-a-half-year-old son, the suspect's wife, Deepika, objected because he had yet to brush his teeth. This led to a heated argument between the couple, and Avinash, in a fit of rage, allegedly picked up a knife and attacked Deepika with it.

The neighbors found Deepika lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, Deepika subsequently succumbed to her stab injuries and died.

Following the incident, the officers took Avinash into custody and charged him with murder.
