Matt Adams shoves a fan when he fails to catch foul ball Reuters

The St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati reds have been rivals since 2010 when they had an intense brawl. During yesterday’s game between these two division rivals something unfortunate happened. The incident involved Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams and a Reds fan named Chris Smith, and the act has since become viral.

Adams chased a ball into the stands but the fans caught the ball instead. Technically the ball was already in the stands, so the fan had the right to catch the ball, he did nothing wrong. But that’s not what Adams thought. When the play was over, he shoved Smith with his glove while he was getting up off the tarp. The fan, in response gave Adams the finger, wand this was caught on live television.

Here is the fan’s response to the shove. “He gave me a shove and I fell back. I'm pretty sensitive about my knee right now. I'm fresh out of surgery, it's nothing to joke around about. I didn't reach over, I stayed where I was, I couldn't reach out if I tried, because I can't hit my knee on anything.” Check out the video of the incident below and let us know if you feel Matt Adams was wrong in the comments section.
