After hearing Prince Harry's recent interview, Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle Sr., had some harsh words for his son-in-law and the royal family.
Meghan, on the other hand, has not reconciled with her father. It had also been several years since they had spoken to each other.
Since the Duchess of Sussex announced her engagement to Prince Harry, her father has been speaking disparagingly about the Suits alum.
Thomas recently called Prince Harry an "idiot." In addition, the former lighting director stated that he doesn't comprehend half of what the Duke of Sussex says.
"I think it's ridiculous. He knows how much security they're going to have, he's totally safe in that situation, and my god he's going off to the (Invictus) Games, which would be far more dangerous for him than it would be at the Jubilee. I don't understand half the things he says, and I have so little respect for that man. I think he's an i***t," he said (via Express).
Thomas Sr. was also offended by Prince Harry's decision to visit the queen without his two children. Her Majesty hasn't met Lilibet Diana in person as of late.
"I don't know whether it's Meghan or Harry but the Queen should have every right to see and hear these grandchildren, and I should have every right to see my grandchildren. So, if they show up, I hope they bring the kids," he pointed out.
Prince Harry revealed in an interview with Hoda Kotb that he promised the queen that she would see his great-grandchildren soon.
"I don't know yet. There are lots of things: security issues and everything else. So, this is what I'm trying to do, trying to make it possible that, you know, I can get my kids to meet her," he said (via People ).
This isn't the first time Thomas Sr. has expressed his displeasure with Prince Harry. He did, however, condemn The Firm on several occasions.
Markle's father slammed his son-in-wardrobe law's choice after seeing the Duke of Sussex's video ahead of the Invictus Games.
"It matches his hair, so it's pretty good. A lot of people were saying he looks like a carrot top, now he looks like a total carrot," he said (via Geo. TV).
Thomas Sr. stated in a 2020 interview with Channel 5 that his daughter and the royal family owe him.
"At this point, they owe me. The royals owe me. Harry owes me, Meghan owes me. What I've been through, I should be rewarded for. My daughter told me that when I reach my senior years she'll take care of me. I'm in my senior years now – it's time to look after daddy. I want Harry and Meghan to see this video and know that this is not fair," he said (via The News).
Regardless of what Thomas Sr. claims, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have never directly reacted to him.
Meanwhile, Thomas Sr. has confirmed that he will be attending the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. He stated that he would use this chance to express his admiration for the queen and the British royal family.
However, Thomas Sr. believes that if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are aware of his presence, they will most likely forgo the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
He stated that he would pay his respects to the Queen. Thomas Sr. claims that he will inform the Royal Family and ensure that the Queen realizes that his entire family respects the Queen and the royals.
He went on to say that he admires The Firm and that he wants them to know that he feels the same way about them and England. He wants them to see that they have no animosity toward the royal family.
"We have nothing but respect and admiration for them and the same feeling for all British people," he mentioned.
