Former US President Donald Trump and wife Melania Trump generally don't accompany each other in a Mar-a-Lago restaurant when she is there, says a book by Michael Wolff.

The Trumps are "looked at, somewhat, like zoo animals," Wolff wrote in his book "Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency," reported Business Insider. "No, no, that's not right. They are like a newly married couple: every night is a wedding at which they spend their dinner greeting friends and wellwishers," he wrote.

During his post-presidency days, Trump lived at his club in Florida. He had dinner most evenings on the patio.

In the book, questions are raised whether Melania lives there with her husband. "For four years in the White House, it was never quite clear how much time she was spending at the White House or in a house in Maryland where she had settled her parents," Wolff wrote. "Aides were careful not to closely inquire or openly wonder. Here too, in Mar-a-Lago, it was unclear."

The book describes an "old-fashioned club life" at Mar-a-Lago, with Croquet Singles, a Prime Rib Night, and poster boards with the schedule. "The only membership qualification now, beyond the actual cost ($250,000, up from $150,000 before the presidency, plus a hefty yearly fee), is to be an abject Trump admirer," Wolff wrote.

"This may not be so much a political statement as an aesthetic one - the thrall of a super-celebrity."

Meanwhile, the former first lady was spotted arriving at Trump Tower in Manhattan on Tuesday. It was a rare appearance for Melania, who hasn't been photographed publicly outside of Palm Beach. The former president is currently in Bedminster. "While Palm Beach is their main residence, the Trumps go back and forth from New York to New Jersey during the summer season," a source told People magazine.

"Melania and her own family do many things together and not necessarily with Donald." The source shared that Melania tries to stay in or around the same city as Trump, while still maintaining her own schedule. "Donald is fine with that as long as she is satisfied, leaves him alone, and makes appearances when needed," the source said.

"Melania is happiest when she is with her own family members, including her son. She is not dumb, she just knows how to handle her life to make it as fulfilling for her as possible."
