In an unusual twist, the mother of a 10-year-old girl who was reportedly raped by an immigrant from Guatemala is siding with the latter.

She is the mother of the young girl who allegedly crossed state lines to have an abortion. The man who allegedly raped the child was identified as Gerson Fuentes.

The mother spoke to Telemundo, hiding behind the door of an apartment in Columbus that was ironically listed as the home of Fuentes.

The woman confirmed that she was the mother but did not give her name. She also confirmed that the minor was just 9 years old when she was abused and impregnated.

“She’s fine. Everything that they’re saying against him is a lie,” the woman stated.

Her statement contradicts the one issued by Fuentes. The 57-year-old admitted to sexually assaulting the girl at least twice per court records and officials.

The case of the 10-year-old girl drew attention after the minor was taken across state lines to have an abortion in Indiana on June 30.

Initially, the person who allegedly got the girl pregnant was said to be a minor. This was according to the abortionist in a report that was sent to authorities.

Dr. Caitlin Bernard listed the rapist as being approximately 17 in her official filing to the Indiana Department of Health according to Fox News Digital.

The name of Fuentes was not identified in the document. Instead, it only showed how Bernard reported performing a non-surgical abortion for a 6-weeks-pregnant 10-year-old girl of Mexican ethnicity on June 30.

The move Bernard was lauded by attorney Kathleen DeLaney. She insisted that Bernard took every appropriate and proper action under the law and both her medical and ethical training as a physician.

Fuentes was arrested on Tuesday and is currently held on a $2 million bond. He is facing charges of felony rape of a minor under 13 years old and is expected to be back in court next Friday.
