It's almost the end of 2014 and lots have happened this year! We've had monumental events, good times, bad times and everything in between. As part of this exciting year we've had incredible technology from Samsung's newest Galaxy phone to the next Apple smartphone installment and much more. And with this tech comes lots of wonderful apps and games! We've compiled a list of the hottest and most popular iOS and Android apps of 2014. Check them out below:

Kim Kardashian Hollywood - This app was incredibly popular this year and unstoppable! The app, publisher and Kim K. made an estimated $200 million off this game. It dominated both the Android and iOS market and stayed on the top charts for months. The app is simple you create your own custom superstar and climb your way to A-list status with the help of Kim Kardashian. The game is free for both iOS and Android and features in-app purchases.

Timberman - This is an oldschool arcade style casual game and was basically this years Flappy Bird. It's super easy you just become a Timberman, chop wood and avoid the branches. Incredibly easy to play but hard to master. There are four variable environments and eight timbermen to unlock. Check out these tips and try to beat your best scores and place your name on the top slot of the leaderboards. The game is free on iOS and Android.

Threes - This game made Apple's official list of top apps of 2014 and it is well deserved! Threes is a simple puzzler by publisher Sirvo that lets the player slides numbered tiles on a grid to combine addends and multiples of three. The game ends when there are no moves left on the grid and the tiles are counted for a final score. Sounds easy right? It is, kinda, and super addictive! The game is only $2 for Android and iOS!

Uber - Uber is your private driver in the form of an app! You can request a ride from your device, set a drop off location and pay all within a simple beautiful app. You can even choose what kind of car you want to pick you up. Uber is free for both Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

BuzzFeed - With this app you get all the news you love from BuzzFeed plus the quizzes that will likely show up on your social networks, and the recipes and life tips you can't live without. BuzzFeed is free for both iOS and Android.

SwiftKey Keyboard - SwiftKey has always been a popular app but got a lot more recognition this year with the release of Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. With the release of the new devices, Apple also updated its software with iOS 8 which included third party keyboard support. With that Apple fans are now able to download their favorite keyboard and SwiftKey has been amongst the most downloaded. The app is free on both iOS and Android.

Starbucks - This year Starbucks redesigned its app making it easy to order customized drinks, pay for your items and tip your barista. The app also tallies up your points which can give you free or discounted drinks and treats. The app is free for Android and iOS and you receive a free drink for signing up and creating an account.

Tinder - Though this app was initially released back in 2012 it gained a lot of momentum this year. If you don't know, Tinder is a dating app that uses your Facebook account to find you dates with friends of friends. The app is free for iOS and Android.
