Two Connecticut police officers responding to an emergency call about possible domestic violence were ambushed and shot dead. The incident took place on Wednesday, Oct 12 as the cops were intentionally lured into their deaths by a fake 911 call, said reports.

Bristol Police Sgt. Dustin Demonte,35, and Officer Alex Hamzy,34, were the officers who were killed in the incident. Officer Alec Iurato, 26, was wounded. This happened during a week when at least 10 officers have been shot around the country.

“Bristol Police received a 911 call reporting a possible domestic violence incident between two siblings at 310 Redstone Hill Road,” the police
said in a press release posted online,
“Preliminary information appears to point to the 911 call being a deliberate act to lure law enforcement to the scene,” the release said.
35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher, who was also shot dead at the scene has been identified as the killer. His brother Nathan Brutcher, 32, was wounded and remains at St. Francis Hospital.

According to police, Nicholas Brutcher was waiting outside when cops arrived at the Bristol house and opened fire, killing Sgt. Dustin Demonte and Officer Alex Hamzy.

Information regarding who exactly opened fire, who fired the fatal shots or the number of guns involved in the firing is yet to be released by the police along with the motive behind the lethal attack. An investigation led by detectives from the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit is still ongoing.

In Bristol Thursday, police guarded the homes of the officers who were killed.
According to reports, a massive police procession accompanied the bodies of the two officers to the medical examiner’s office.

Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould said “We lost two exceptional Bristol police officers, and a third was seriously injured, as a result of senseless violence,” at a press conference on Thursday.

Demonte was a 10-year veteran officer and co-recipient of his department's 2019 Officer of the Year award. He was killed as his wife is pregnant with their third child.
Hamzy is a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School. He is survived by his wife, his parents, and two sisters.
