Paulina Rubio caused quite a discussion on social media after she started using a popular Spanish hashtag for her own benefit. The Mexican singer, who used to live in Spain, tweeted “Summer 2015 is here! #MiNuevoVicio #newmusic #NewMusicComingSoon #summer #PAU2015 #paupowers #felicidadtotal,”and the crowd went wild.

The hashtag in question was #PAU2015 (Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad) which was trending in Spain on June 8 due to the upcoming College applications in the country, and refers to a test students can take to better their grades and prove their knowledge in order to choose the major of their preference. I guess we can say they are Spain’s SATs.

Our guess is, “La Chica Dorada” noticed that the hashtag was trending and decided to include it in her tweet to cause a scene, which is what she did. We are unsure if this was a publicity stunt, or if in fact Pau has no idea about what’s going on in the world, and thought her fans were making her a trending topic. The fact is that no matter what the reality is, Pau got a lot of attention from this post. Check it out!
