What looked like a promising 3-0 start to the season has now turned into a surprising 4-4 record for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles have lost all three of their divisional games, and their odds of winning the NFC East are getting slimmer by the day. By far the biggest reason the Eagles haven’t been able to keep their winning ways alive is because of their inability to close games in the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter.

"We, all around here, are kind of sick to our stomach where we're at right now with just all these close games. It's frustrating to not finish. We've had chances in every one of these as an offense to go down there and win the ball game or tie it up or whatever the case may be. It's frustrating, so we all have got to do a better job and that starts with me in those key situations," Quarterback Carson Wentz said.

One of the most glaring examples came against the Dallas Cowboys just two weeks ago. The Eagles were in complete control, but allowed the Cowboys to take over in the fourth quarter and overtime by getting outscored, 16-3. If the Eagles could have simply held their lead against the Cowboys and Detroit Lions they would be 6-2 as opposed to 4-4.

That’s a big difference. Instead, the Cowboys sit atop the NFC East comfortably with a 7-1 record.

"I keep sounding like a broken record, but it's just executing and finishing down the wire. It's some third-down moments, know when to take sacks at times, know when a play's not there. There's just things to learn all the time, and I think as a good team we've all got to learn from those. If we're not learning, we're just going to keep repeating those mistakes. So yeah, without a doubt, those are all learning experiences," Wentz said.

The Eagles take on the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers in their next three games.
