Prince William is set to become king when Prince Charles dies. While that means that his reign may not be in the near future, royal experts say that Queen Elizabeth is already disappointed with her grandson.

When he was a young boy, Prince William told Princess Diana that he wouldn’t like to be king. Now that he’s already grown up and has a family of his own, his lack of enthusiasm when it comes to his destiny is still apparent. According to royal experts, the way that the Duke of Cambridge performs his royal duties today pretty much shows that he’s less than excited about his future ascension to the throne.

Since he was young, Prince William has been raised to eventually take on the role of king. However, he has reportedly failed to live up to Queen Elizabeth’s mighty reputation.

Having ruled the monarchy for 67 long years, Queen Elizabeth has a powerful and lasting legacy. Much of the love that the British monarchy has received from the public for the last decades can be attributed to Queen Elizabeth, whose frugality, hard work and dedication have inspired many.

In “Illustrated Story Of Twenty-One Years In The Life Of The Heir Presumptive,” royal author Dermot Morrah described the positive attributes of Queen Elizabeth and explained why it will be hard for the future heirs to live up to her reputation.

“She is always ready to take great trouble over small things, especially when she suspects that things which are small to her may be of great importance to humbler people,” she wrote. She also said that despite her age, the Queen continues to commit herself to her duties with steadfast dedication.

Antimonarchy group Republic has also taken issue with Prince William’s level of commitment, claiming that he shows disinterest in his destiny. “How can the monarchy survive when the younger generation can’t be bothered to do even the light workload of their parents?” the group noted.

The group also raised the question of whether or not Prince William really wants to be king. “Is he just doing the bare minimum to keep his family happy in the hope he can have his cake and eat it?” said Republic.

Prince William is currently the second in line to the throne. Whether or not he is enthusiastic about being the future King of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms, he will have to carry out his duties when his time comes.
