Sony is readying the PlayStation Vita console for the launch of the PS4. Last month, Sony teased a new feature for the Vita called PS4 Link, which let Vita owners connect to the PS4 with their handheld console. Now the Vita's new system update 3.00, which is available for download now, brings that feature to the Vita. The update adds support for two of the cross-platform features which include: Remote Play and Second Screen capabilities. In addition to the PS4 Link feature the update brings other updates which include new parameters within parental controls, a panoramic camera setting, improvements to the friends feature and finally the ability to sync data between Vita and PS3 using a Wi-Fi connection.
The PS4 Link app can be found on the PS Vita's home screen. Using it will enable gamers to use the Vita to remotely control Your PS4 and play its games on the actual handheld. Remote Play enables users to stream their PS4 games to the console via Wi-Fi. Sony has recently revealed that Remote Play may only work best at your home where the Wi-Fi connection is guaranteed to be strongest. The second screen feature will work sort of like the way a 3DS system works, utilizing the PS Vita's screen to display information from a game that supports the feature while still playing that game on your PS4.
Now that all the Vita's update has been released all gamers have to do now is wait for the PS4 to be released. The PS4 will release November 15 in the U.S. and November 29 in Europe. Unfortunately Japanese fans will have to wait until February 2014. Make sure to check out the quick video of the features below and if you need more information on the update check out Sony's PlayStation Blog for more details.
