Queen Elizabeth is reportedly handing over the throne to Kate Middleton as she reveals her big plan to reshape the monarchy. A tabloid report revealed earlier this week that the Queen has already informed Prince Charles about her plan to change the line of succession for the benefit of the monarchy.

In the UK, the line of succession dictates who will become the next sovereign. Currently, Prince Charles, the firstborn of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, is the first in line to the throne. That means that when Queen Elizabeth dies, he automatically becomes the new king.

According to the recent tabloid report, Queen Elizabeth is aware that the majority of the British people don’t want Prince Charles to be their next king. The Prince of Wales has a long history of scandals, from his illicit affair with Camilla Parker Bowles and his failed marriage to Princess Diana down to his controversial meddling with political affairs.

After a careful consideration of the monarchy’s situation, Queen Elizabeth has reportedly come up with the decision to change the line of succession so she could prevent Prince Charles from being her immediate successor. The report claimed that Queen Elizabeth had spoken to her son before they attended the opening of the UK Parliament together, informing him of her decision.

“Apparently, right before they arrived, the Queen revealed her big plan to reshape the monarchy after a year of their reputation taking a beating,” a source allegedly told the tabloid. “She knows the future of the family lies with William and Kate, rather than Charles who never has fully had the support of their subjects,” the source added.

The unnamed source also stated that Queen Elizabeth had already told Prince Charles to prepare to step aside for his son and daughter-in-law. The Queen reportedly believes that Prince William and Kate will be able to do a better job than Prince Charles, especially since the majority of the British public are in favor of them.

According to the source, Queen Elizabeth is uncertain about Prince Charles’ ability to lead the monarchy when the time comes. “The Queen seriously doubts Charles has the ability to run the family,” the source said.

After the report came out, Gossip Cop quickly debunked the tabloid’s claims and stated that it’s not how the laws regarding succession work. No matter how powerful she is, Queen Elizabeth doesn’t have the constitutional authority to just pick who follows her as the sovereign.

“Prince Charles is the legal heir to the throne and that would only change if Parliament voted him out or if Prince Charles himself abdicated, neither of which is likely to happen,” the publication noted.

Queen Elizabeth has been preparing Prince Charles for his future role as king all his life, so ditching him just like that doesn’t make any sense. In fact, at 93, the Queen has already handed over many of her royal obligations to Prince Charles as a way of preparing him for his future role.
