At 93, Queen Elizabeth has four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Just like everyone else, she has family members she gets on with more than others. Surprisingly, those who are closest to her in the family do not belong to the famous royal family members—Prince Charles, Prince Harry, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

Although Queen Elizabeth holds each member of her family dear to her heart, the ones she shares the closest rapport with are low-key members of the royal family. They are neither the Sussexes nor the Cambridges but royals whose names barely make it to the tabloids.

Zara Tindall

Zara Tindall, one of Queen Elizabeth’s grandchildren, grew up spending a lot of time with the Queen. No wonder they share a different kind of bond whenever they’re together. As the first grandchild of Queen Elizabeth, Zara enjoys spending time with the Queen as much as the Queen loves spending time with her.

A royal correspondent once revealed that Queen Elizabeth and Zara click because neither of them is an intellectual. That means that both of them can act normal whenever they’re around each other. Queen Elizabeth feels the same way for Zara’s husband, Mike, who was recently photographed having a good laugh with the Queen at the Royal Ascot.

“She’s at her most relaxed around them,” a royal correspondent revealed. “The Queen gets on well with Prince William and Kate, but they don’t have the same kind of easy-going giggly time with her as Zara and Mike do. “Mike is a down-to-earth Yorkshireman who makes her laugh and makes Zara very happy,” he added.

Sophie, Countess Of Wessex

When it comes to her daughters-in-law, Prince Edward’s wife is her favorite. Sophie Wessex has long been one of Queen Elizabeth’s trusted confidantes. A royal aide once revealed that the Queen relies on Sophie in a way she doesn’t on Camilla Parker Bowles, Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle.

The Queen reportedly loves her for her unpretentious charm and her strong work ethic. “She’s very much the Queen’s favorite, and you’ll notice that whenever there is a family holiday or gathering, Sophie and Edward often stay a while longer than the rest,” an insider said.

Lady Sarah Chatto

Another Queen’s favorite, Lady Sarah Chatto is the daughter of the late Princess Margaret and is Queen Elizabeth’s only niece. When the Queen is with her, she is hugely at ease and giggles as much as she likes. “They share a sense of loyalty, fun, duty and the ridiculous,” a source revealed.
