Have I told you lately that I love you?

Rod Stewart admitted recently that he and wife Penny Lancaster split up for two weeks after an argument, and the separation led him to dedicate a song to her. "Picture in a Frame" by Tom Waits was Stewart's inspiration, and a cover of the song will be featured on his upcoming album, dedicated specially to his wife of 13 years.

"I asked her for a photo of herself in a frame so that I could see her when I went to bed and when I woke up," said the singer about his two week break-up.

The couple began dating in 1999 and tied the knot in 2007, his third time after previous marriages with Rachel Hunter and Alana Hamilton.
Through the years, Stewart said he's learned some good strategies to keep a relationship healthy.

"I have taken a lot of risks when it comes to relationships but I have never gambled or smoked-women don't like that," he said. "You have to take the good with the bad, and women prefer you when you're truthful."

He added: "My relationship rule is, 'Don't argue after a glass of wine-leave debating until the morning.' I have always loved women, won some, lost some, but it's not about the magic touch, it's about being a better person and a good listener."

When the singer was asked about any advice he would give to his 20-year-old self, he said to be a little more conservative in his love life. "Maybe keep your banana in the fruit bowl a little longer, it has got me in a lot of trouble."

At least Penny got a very dedicated and passionate Stewart, who only has eyes for her and has sure become a better man. And of course, she also got a song!
