Taylor Swift dropped a romantic surprise for her fans on November 13 by releasing her “Lover” track remix with her special guest!

Swift has collaborated with “Treat You Better” singer Shaw Mendes for a remixed version of her most recent song, “Lover”. The romantic and intimate song retained its original track with additional and modified lyrics written by Mendes.

"He has taken 'Lover' and he has re-written parts of it, which I think is so important because I love him as a writer," Swift announced on Instagram. "And I also think that everybody would write a different love letter to their lover and I think his take on it is so beautiful."

Mendes added his own message to a “lover” by adding the following verse and fans are thinking the words could be dedicated to his girlfriend, Camila Cabello.

“We could light a bunch of candles/ And dance around the kitchen, baby/ Pictures of when we were young would hang on the wall/ We would sit on the stoop/ I'll sing love songs to you when we're eighty/ See, I finally got you now, honey, I won't let you fall."

He also added a twist on the song’s vow-like bridge. “Look in my eyes, they will tell you the truth/ The girl in my story has always been you/ I'd go down with the Titanic, it's true, for you, lover.”

Her friend Mendes expressed his gratitude and support on Twitter for letting him rewrite a romantic and deeply personal song. Fans have speculated that Taylor Swift’s “Lover” track is about the singer finding true love in her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

“Thank you Taylor Swift for letting me join you on such a beautiful song," wrote Mendes on Twitter.

Mendes performed the opening act for Swift on her 1989 World Tour. He is known to have remained friends with the “Lover” singer and only has good words to say about how she inspires him.

“Taylor makes anyone older feel young again and anyone young feel they can do anything,” he told TIME Magazine on Swift being named one of its 100 most influential people.

“It’s so rare and so special. If there is one thing I want to achieve in my career and life, it’s that,” he said.
