President Donald Trump suggested will launch a counter offensive against Russia, saying on Thursday that "it is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invader's country."
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that the situation is akin to "a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offensive."
BREAKING: President Trump says Ukraine had “no chance of winning” the war with Russia because “Biden would not let Ukraine fight back.”

Is Trump suggesting Ukraine should start striking Russian territory? pic.twitter.com/NLkRr4e43N
"There is no chance of winning! It is like that with Ukraine and Russia. Crooked and grossly incompetent Joe Biden would not let Ukraine FIGHT BACK, only DEFEND defend. How did that work out? Regardless, this is a war that would have NEVER happened if I were President - ZERO CHANCE. Interesting times ahead!!! President DJT," Trump added.
The more belligerent post stands in contrast with Trump's optimism regarding the possibility of helping strike a deal between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky following his summit with the former in Alaska last week.
He said earlier this week that he had began arrangements for a face-to-face meeting between the heads of state after hosting Zelensky and European leaders and then speaking with Putin.
"After that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat, which would be the two Presidents, plus myself. Again, this was a very good, early step for a War that has been going on for almost four years," Trump said in a social media post. He later said he might not take part in it: "Now I think it would be better if they met without me... If necessary, I'll go."
Zelensky, on his end, said he was ready to meet with Putin in "neutral Europe" and wasn't against Istanbul either.
In the meantime, Russia conducted a large offensive against Ukraine on Thursday, launching 574 drones and 40 missiles, one of the largest attacks in weeks. Zelensky claimed that there are no signs Moscow officials "truly intend to engage in substantive negotiations" to end the war.
