It's been almost two weeks since US President Joe Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of tackling the US-Mexico border crisis, but she is yet to officially speak on the issue.

The new role lets Harris lead efforts to address migration to the southern border amid rise in migrants traveling to the US. But Harris is yet to hold a formal press briefing regarding the crisis, reported Fox News.

During the announcement of her appointment, Biden said that she would be in charge of working to return migrants to their home countries.

"So this new surge we're dealing with now started with the last administration, but it's our responsibility to deal with it humanely and to stop what's happening," Biden said.

"And so, this increase has been consequential, but the vice president has agreed...among the multiple other things that I have her leading, and I appreciate it... to lead our diplomatic effort and work with those nations to accept the returnees, and enhance migration enforcement at their borders," he added.

The White House later attempted to claim that Harris wasn't involved with the "border crisis," but was instead focused on addressing the "root causes – not the border."

Even though she has been keeping mum on the issue, Harris has been actively tweeting about other topics using her official Twitter account.

"Going back to how things were is not the end goal of getting through this pandemic. We must build our country back better than it was before. With historic investments in our infrastructure, the American Jobs Plan will help us do just that," Harris tweeted Sunday.

Many netizens are furious as she is not addressing the border issue.

"What about the Southern Border mess? Have you thought about that? Have you and Joe gone to the Southern Border to see how bad it is? I doubt it," one tweeted.

Another wrote, "Kamala isn't doing her job. She's been asked to do ONE thing and she still refuses to visit the border. Is she insubordinate and what is the consequence for ignoring a direct command from"POTUS"? Is this grounds for impeachment for failure to do her duty? @VP."

Another asked, "Shouldn't you be at the border? What do you do all day besides Tweet?"

“We still have a lot of work to do in terms of addressing racism, addressing bias, and being true to what we should be, which is a country that sees the dignity in all people and gives them dignity. This is something that I have experienced personally, it is something I care deeply about, it is something I’m always going to fight against. We really can be better than this. I know that” Senator Harris told Telemundo’s morning show. KamalaHarris.org
