Glendson Scott Crawford and Eric J. Feight were both arrested by the FBI for plotting to use an X-ray weapon to target and kill Muslims.
According to the New York Times last April Crawford walked into an Albany synagogue and told those inside he planned on building an X-ray weapon that would help to kill the enemies of Israel, meaning Muslims while they slept. Crawford needed financial help in order to create his X-ray weapon but the people in the synagogue turned him away.
A known member of the Ku Klux Klan Crawford sought financial backing from a Klan leader in South Carolina, but the Klansman also turned Crawford away.
Crawford, a mechanic and a General Electric employee hooked up with Eric J Feight a likeminded engineer who helped build the nonoperational X-ray weapon. Were the weapon able to work the men had hoped it would emit enough radiation to kill Muslims while they slept.
This week the two men were charged with "conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists." If found guilty the two men could spend a maximum of 15-years in prison.
"Crawford has specifically identified Muslims and several other individuals/groups as targets," said investigator Geoffrey Kent in a court document.
On Wednesday June 19 the two men appeared in separate court hearings. Both men will be detained until their next appearance in court on Tuesday.
